Experience

Dr John Tan is a general surgeon at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore.

His specialty is in the treatment of varicose veins.

Dr Tan was the former chief of vascular surgery and director of vascular lab at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He is currently a visiting consultant to several hospitals.

He graduated from the National University of Singapore and obtained his postgraduate degree from the fellowship of the Royal College of Edinburgh, UK. He then pursued his interest in vein and arterial surgery, and did his specialised training at the Royal Leicester Infirmary, UK. He is among the earliest doctors to do endovenous laser treatment for varicose veins in Southeast Asia.

Dr Tan was the past vice-president of the Vascular Surgery Society of Singapore and is currently a member of the American College of Phlebology.

He has been invited to several international meetings to share his experience in treatment of varicose veins. Dr Tan has also been actively involved in teaching and training doctors in Thailand, Malaysia and Philippines in the use of endovenous laser procedure.
