Laryngovideostroboscopy is an important diagnostic tool that allows an ENT (ears, nose, and throat) specialist to view the vocal folds in slow motion. It uses a stroboscopic lamp, which gives out regular flashes of light, and a flexible tube that is inserted in the back of the mouth or through the nose into the throat after applying local anaesthetic. Video pictures are then recorded while the patient is talking, singing or whistling, and studied by the specialist.
