Health Screening

  • Overview

    Health screening services

At Gleneagles Hospital, we provide a range of health screening packages and full body medical check-ups to help people lead healthier and fuller lives.

Preventive health screening starts from birth, when tests are done to detect conditions such as hearing impairment or hypothyroidism, and continues throughout life. At Gleneagles’ executive health screening, we tailor your health check-up based on your age, medical history, risk factors, family history and health concerns.

Every member of the team is a well-trained professional and meets the standards for delivering quality care. All staff is committed to providing personalised care.

Within 14 days of an appointment, patients will receive a detailed report of results in the mail or in person. Patients are encouraged to review the test results with a doctor. The doctor will be able to address any concerns regarding the results, and advise on the appropriate treatments or lifestyle tweaks needed, based on the patient’s health profile. If a condition needs urgent attention, patients are notified immediately.

    Benefits of health screening

Regular health screening allows the early detection of diseases, even if there are no visible symptoms or signs. This allows the patient to undergo treatment swiftly before any complications develop, leading to better outcomes. Gleneagles’ health screening aims to maintain optimal health for our patients so that you can live full and active lives.

We have a wide variety of health screening packages available, each designed to detect the most common diseases and conditions based on your gender and age group. Our healthcare professionals can help you choose the most appropriate health screening package for you.

  • Health Screening Packages

    Gleneagles executive health screening

The Gleneagles’ executive health screening is a personalised, full body medical check-up that can help you determine your overall health status. This comprehensive medical check-up assesses the health and function of all your organs, alerting you of any warning signs of disease in your body.

The screening services and tests will be customised based on your medical history, demographic, and health concerns. Apart from evaluating your core health status, the executive health screening will also include additional screening tests for specific diseases that you may be at higher risk for, such as cancer or cardiovascular diseases.

At Gleneagles Hospital, we recognise the unique health needs of both women and men. Our screening packages are separated by gender so that we can better evaluate your health condition. We not only consider sex-specific conditions, such as Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) that only affects women, and prostate cancer that only affects men; we also take into consideration that there are diseases and conditions that are more commonly found in each gender. Women may develop certain diseases such as breast cancer, cervical cancer, osteoporosis, and autoimmune diseases. Meanwhile, men are more likely to develop diseases such as diabetes, kidney stones, gout and abdominal aortic aneurysm.

  • Screen Elite

The Screen Elite health screening package screens for the most common diseases that affect the average person. It can detect problems in vision, blood counts, lipid levels, liver disease, kidney disease and thyroid problems. It also screens for diabetes mellitus, heart disease, autoimmune disease, hepatitis, colon cancer, liver cancer, prostate cancer for men, and cervical and ovarian cancer for women.

This is the basic package recommended for executives with no significant concerns based on their medical history.

  • Screen Prestige

The Screen Prestige is the most comprehensive health screening package at Gleneagles Hospital. In addition to the tests offered in the Screen Premier package, the Screen Prestige package offers nasoendoscopy and a comprehensive list of additional tests to choose from, including ultrasound tests, MRI tests and gastroenterology specialists’ tests.

Nasoendoscopy is a procedure where a small scope is inserted into the nose to examine your nose, throat and voice box. It can detect various conditions such as nasal polyps, chronic sinusitis, problems with speech or swallowing, and cancer of the nose, throat or voice box. This test is recommended for individuals who experience nasal congestion, recurrent nasal discharge, decreased sense of smell, or nose bleeds.

In the Screen Prestige package, you can choose to have an ultrasound of your carotid vessels to detect any blockages that may increase your risk of stroke, an ultrasound of your thyroid to detect thyroid nodules, or an ultrasound fibroscan of the liver to detect if your liver has fatty changes or scarring.

Among the MRI tests, you can choose to have an MRI stroke screen which is recommended for people with high risk of stroke such as those with hypertension, abnormal lipid levels, and those with family history of stroke. Another option is an MRI of the cervical spine which can detect arthritis, tumours, disc herniation, or problems in the vessels in the cervical portion of the spine. This test is recommended for people who experience severe neck, shoulder or arm pain. The third option is an MRI of the lumbar spine to detect degenerative changes, inflammation, or tumours in the lumbar area of the spine. This test is recommended for people who experience severe low back pain, leg pain or numbness, or problems with bladder and bowel control.

For the gastroenterology specialists test, you can choose to have a gastroscopy, a colonoscopy, or both a gastroscopy and a colonoscopy. Gastroscopy is a procedure where a tube is inserted into the mouth to examine your oesophagus, stomach and upper part of the small intestine. It can detect ulcers, gastritis, and tumours in this portion of the gastrointestinal tract. Gastroscopy is recommended for people who experience persistent stomach pain, vomiting, or difficulty in swallowing. Colonoscopy is a procedure where a tube is inserted into the rectum to examine your colon. It is used to evaluate patients who have persistent diarrhoea, blood in the stool, or chronic constipation. A colonoscopy is also recommended every 10 years to screen for colon cancer among people who are aged 50 years and above.

The Screen Prestige package is recommended for people with higher risk for stroke, arthritis, and cancer, and those with symptoms relating to problems in the spine, gastrointestinal tract, and the nose and throat area.
