The Screen Prestige is the most comprehensive health screening package at Gleneagles Hospital. In addition to the tests offered in the Screen Premier package, the Screen Prestige package offers nasoendoscopy and a comprehensive list of additional tests to choose from, including ultrasound tests, MRI tests and gastroenterology specialists’ tests.
Nasoendoscopy is a procedure where a small scope is inserted into the nose to examine your nose, throat and voice box. It can detect various conditions such as nasal polyps, chronic sinusitis, problems with speech or swallowing, and cancer of the nose, throat or voice box. This test is recommended for individuals who experience nasal congestion, recurrent nasal discharge, decreased sense of smell, or nose bleeds.
In the Screen Prestige package, you can choose to have an ultrasound of your carotid vessels to detect any blockages that may increase your risk of stroke, an ultrasound of your thyroid to detect thyroid nodules, or an ultrasound fibroscan of the liver to detect if your liver has fatty changes or scarring.
Among the MRI tests, you can choose to have an MRI stroke screen which is recommended for people with high risk of stroke such as those with hypertension, abnormal lipid levels, and those with family history of stroke. Another option is an MRI of the cervical spine which can detect arthritis, tumours, disc herniation, or problems in the vessels in the cervical portion of the spine. This test is recommended for people who experience severe neck, shoulder or arm pain. The third option is an MRI of the lumbar spine to detect degenerative changes, inflammation, or tumours in the lumbar area of the spine. This test is recommended for people who experience severe low back pain, leg pain or numbness, or problems with bladder and bowel control.
For the gastroenterology specialists test, you can choose to have a gastroscopy, a colonoscopy, or both a gastroscopy and a colonoscopy. Gastroscopy is a procedure where a tube is inserted into the mouth to examine your oesophagus, stomach and upper part of the small intestine. It can detect ulcers, gastritis, and tumours in this portion of the gastrointestinal tract. Gastroscopy is recommended for people who experience persistent stomach pain, vomiting, or difficulty in swallowing. Colonoscopy is a procedure where a tube is inserted into the rectum to examine your colon. It is used to evaluate patients who have persistent diarrhoea, blood in the stool, or chronic constipation. A colonoscopy is also recommended every 10 years to screen for colon cancer among people who are aged 50 years and above.
The Screen Prestige package is recommended for people with higher risk for stroke, arthritis, and cancer, and those with symptoms relating to problems in the spine, gastrointestinal tract, and the nose and throat area.
