Dr. Khng graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the National University of Singapore. He did his general medical training at Singapore General Hospital (SGH), National University Hospital (NUH) and Toa Payoh Hospital (TPH). His ophthalmology residency was at Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC), Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) and NUH. He was Chief Resident, Department of Ophthalmology, TTSH & NUH during his residency tenure. Dr. Khng did his ophthalmology fellowships (Local) / Advanced Surgical Training (AST) Rotations at SNEC in the areas of glaucoma, cornea, paediatric ophthalmology, vitreoretina, oculoplastics, cataract & comprehensive ophthalmology. He is admitted Member in American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ECSRS) and American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO).
Previously, Dr. Khng was the Senior Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon for Complex Cataract and Anterior Segment, Reconstruction Surgery & Director of Cataract Surgical Services at the AsiaMedic Eye Centre. He was also Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon for Complex Cataract and Anterior Segment Reconstruction Surgery, The Eye Institute, Cataract, Implant & Anterior Segment Service at TTSH from July 2003 to April 2007. In addition, he was the Visiting Consultant of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at Alexandra Hospital from August 2005 till July 2006.
During his Health Manpower Development Plan award scholarship on Anterior Segment Reconstruction, Complex Cataract and Lens Implant Surgery in Oregon in USA from 24 November 2003 to the end of his scholarship. He lectured to the University of Cincinnati Ophthalmic Residents on Techniques of Iris suturing on 12 Aug 04 as well. Dr. Khng was involved in the design of the instruments of Khng-Fine Limbal relaxing incision (LRI) Marker by ASICO (Westmont, Illinois, USA), a series of straight Bimanual Irrigating Chopper tips by MicroSurgical Technology/MST (Redmond, Washington, USA) &Dense Nucleus Rim Breaker by MicroSurgical Technology/MST (Redmond, Washington, USA).
Dr. Khng is fully registered for practice in United Kingdom and is currently on overseas inactive list. He is practising at Gleneagles Hospital as an Ophthalmologist.
