Experience
Dr Teng Jia Ying is a psychiatrist at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore.
She is well-versed in the management of conditions which develop in young individuals such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, autism, anxiety and depression. She also has a special interest in women’s mental health.
She was formerly a consultant psychiatrist at the National University Hospital.
Dr Teng graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and underwent specialty training in psychiatry at the Institute of Mental Health, Singapore General Hospital and National University Hospital (NUH). She then pursued a master’s degree in child and adolescent mental health at King’s College London, UK. As part of the programme, she worked with the hospital’s paediatric liaison service, developing skills in evaluating children and young people presenting with psychiatric emergencies and psychological difficulties secondary to medical illness.
As a former clinician-educator, she was involved in postgraduate residency training and undergraduate medical education. She underwent training in teaching pedagogy at NUS, completing the certificate in medical and health professions education programme.
Dr Teng’s past research work has also spanned the fields of youth and perinatal mental health, psycho-oncology and digital mental health.
