Cardiology
Cardiology is a branch of internal medicine that studies and treats diseases affecting the heart and the arteries. Our cardiovascular system is responsible for pumping and circulating blood throughout the body. Some examples of such diseases include coronary artery disease, heart failure, congenital heart defects and valvular heart disease. Cardiologists are trained to diagnose and treat these diseases. Some common tests and procedures that may be done by your cardiologist would include blood tests, electrocardiograms and echocardiograms.
