Experience
Dr Teo Swee Guan is a cardiologist at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore.
He practises general cardiology, interventional cardiology, peripheral vascular disease, and heart failure. He also performs cardiac catheterisation, percutaneous coronary intervention, as well as non-invasive tests such as echocardiography, ambulatory blood pressure, ambulatory ECG and treadmill exercise stress tests.
Dr Teo was previously a senior consultant and clinical director of the coronary care unit at the National University Heart Centre (NUHC), as well as a deputy director of the vascular laboratory. Prior to that, he was a consultant cardiologist at a private hospital’s heart centre and served as a member of the critical care committee. He has more than 25 years of clinical experience and since 2007, has performed more than 2,000 coronary stenting procedures.
He obtained his bachelor degrees from the University of New South Wales, Australia and subsequently completed his medical training in the UK. He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians, UK. Dr Teo was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan award to do a fellowship in cardiology in Germany and USA. He underwent subspecialty training in interventional cardiology at the Heart Centre Siegburg, Germany and in vascular medicine and peripheral intervention at the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, USA. He was conferred as a fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore in cardiology, the American College of Cardiology, and the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Intervention, USA.
Beyond clinical work, he was an assistant professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore and has been invited as a lecturer and faculty member to many local and international cardiology meetings. Dr Teo was also involved in scientific research, with works published in peer-reviewed international journals.
