Experience
Dr Tan Jee Lim is an orthopaedic surgeon practising at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore.
His clinical interests include anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) surgery, arthroscopy, cartilage and ligament reconstruction, hip scope and meniscus repair surgery.
Dr Tan completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1989. Thereafter, he was admitted as a fellow to both the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK and the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow, UK. In 1999, Dr Tan completed his fellowship in sports orthopaedics at the Fowler Kennedy Sports Medicine Clinic in Canada and was admitted as a fellow of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
Dr Tan previously started and headed the Changi Sports Medicine Centre at the Changi General Hospital (CGH) in Singapore. He also started the Changi Skills Training Laboratory and was the course chairman of the first cartilage transplant course in Southeast Asia. He was also a clinical lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS. He currently remains a visiting consultant to CGH and the Singapore Sports Council.
In 2002, Dr Tan was appointed as the director of the Singapore Soft Tissue Engineering project by the Ministry of Health, Singapore to study the clinical application of cartilage transplant and meniscal transplant. As the director, he carried out the first successful meniscus transplant in Southeast Asia using cadaveric tissue graft.
Dr Tan is a member of the Sports Medicine Accreditation Committee and Joint Commission Specialist Training and was a member of the Specialty Board of the Chapter of Orthopaedic Surgeons at the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.
Dr Tan has also been active in the local sports scene. He was the former president of the Sports Medicine Association of Singapore and served as the team physician to the Singapore national soccer team. He was also a member of the medical committee of the Football Association of Singapore and is a member of the medical committee of the Outward Bound Singapore.
