Dr Jerry Goo is a general surgeon at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore.
He specialises in oncoplastic breast surgery including mammoplasty and minimally invasive laparoscopic (keyhole) mastectomy. His clinical expertise also covers a broad spectrum of general surgical procedures including endoscopy, gallbladder surgery, hernia repair and complex gastrointestinal conditions.
He is a former head of the department of general surgery and head of the breast service at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH).
Dr Goo graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland Medical School and then went on to complete his general surgery training programme in Singapore. He pursued further training at the Westmead Breast Cancer Institute and Westmead Trauma Centre in Australia.
At KTPH, he provided surgical interventions for both benign breast conditions and breast cancer, encompassing oncoplastic mammoplasty and intricate breast reconstruction procedures. He was also contributed to the establishment of the emergency surgery and trauma and breast service at KTPH. He has been practising medicine for more than 20 years and has performed more than 5,000 surgeries since 2014.
He currently serves on various national committees including the Ministry of Health (MOH) national trauma committee, MOH residency advisory committee (general surgery), MOH national examiners for general surgery, national value-driven care for breast cancer surgery committee and Breast Cancer Research Singapore.
Besides his clinical work, he is an associate adjunct professor at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.
Dr Goo has been published in more than 40 peer-reviewed publications. His work was also featured on a national TV documentary programme about oncoplastic breast surgery with reconstruction.
He is a recipient of the Service Champion Award and the Commendation Medal (COVID-19).
