Dr Owen Hee is an ophthalmologist and eye surgeon at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore.
He specialises in cataract surgery and is a fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist well versed in minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries.
Dr Owen has extensive experience in correcting refractive errors such as presbyopia, short-sightedness and astigmatism using premium intraocular lenses in cataract surgery.
Besides cataract and glaucoma, Dr Owen also specialises in general ophthalmology, covering retinal conditions such as age-related macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease as well as myopia control, corneal disorders, eye infections and injuries.
Prior to setting up his private practice, Dr Owen was a senior consultant at the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, and was a part-time consultant at the Ministry of Health providing expert advice on ophthalmology.
Dr Owen has more than 15 years of experience practising ophthalmology.
In 2011, he was awarded a scholarship from Tan Tock Seng Hospital to undergo further postgraduate training in London. He received specialised training in London, looking into health services research including early detection of eye conditions and studying cost-effectiveness of new treatments in ophthalmology.
Dr Owen has also been active in training and education, serving as a clinical senior lecturer at the National University of Singapore Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and clinical tutor at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine.
Dr Owen is passionate about quality and safety in healthcare and served as the quality review officer at the National Healthcare Group Eye Institute responsible for monitoring and improving the quality and safety of care for the whole institute.
