Dr Leong Chuo Ren is a general surgeon at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore.
His primary interest is in open, endovascular surgery treating conditions such as regular, complex aortic pathology, peripheral vascular disease, diabetic foot ulcers, limb salvage surgery, vascular access creation and salvage for dialysis, venous disorders including varicose veins, deep venous thrombosis, and also carotid disease management.
Dr Leong served as the head of the division of vascular surgery and deputy head of the department of surgery at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH).
He graduated from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He then went on to complete his general surgery training at North Shore University Hospital in New York, USA under the New York University and Albert Einstein College of Medicine residency programme. He also did a vascular surgery fellowship at the same institution.
After completing his fellowship training, Dr Leong returned to Singapore and founded the vascular surgery unit at KTPH. During his tenure there, he grew and developed it into a comprehensive department providing treatment for a wide array of complex vascular pathology to a large population in the north of Singapore. He has been practising medicine for more than 20 years.
He is double board certified by the American Board of Surgery in both general and vascular surgery. He is also an international member of the Society of Vascular Surgery and is a founding member of the Singapore Society of Vascular and Endovascular Surgeons.
Dr Leong also served as a senior clinical lecturer at the National University of Singapore and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, and as a national general surgery board examinations committee member.
He is a recipient of numerous service champion awards.
