Dr Calvin Ong is a general surgeon at Parkway East Hospital, Singapore.
He subspecialises in colorectal and general surgery, while his interests are in minimally invasive cancer surgery, inflammatory bowel disease and pelvic floor disorders.
He is also experienced in procedures including laparoscopic and robotic colorectal operations for cancer and benign disease, laparoscopic gall bladder and appendix operations, gastroscopy, colonoscopy, laparoscopic hernia repair, rectal prolapse surgery, and surgery for fistulas and piles.
Prior to joining private practice, he worked at Changi General Hospital.
Dr Ong graduated from the National University of Singapore and completed his master’s degree there. He then completed his advanced specialist training and became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK. He spent a year at St Mark’s Hospital, UK, as part of his fellowship training, where he specialised in inflammatory bowel disease and pelvic floor disorders.
Besides his clinical work, he is a clinical lecturer at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and an adjunct associate professor at Duke-NUS Medical School.
Dr Ong is a member of the Singapore Colorectal Society and was on the executive committee.
