Dr Calvin Ong is a general surgeon at Parkway East Hospital, Singapore.
He specialises in colorectal and general surgery, and he performs minimally invasive as well as advanced robotic surgery for both benign and malignant colorectal conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, pelvic floor disorders, colorectal cancer and hernia repair.
Prior to joining private practice, he was a senior consultant at Changi General Hospital.
He graduated from the National University of Singapore and completed his master’s there. He became a fellow with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK. Dr Ong was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan award and spent a year at St Mark’s Hospital where he specialised in inflammatory bowel disease and pelvic floor disorders. Upon his return to Singapore, he further developed his skills in robotic surgery on the Da Vinci Xi platform for both benign and malignant colorectal conditions, which remains his main interest today. He has been practising medicine for more than 15 years.
Besides clinical duties, he is a member of Singapore Colorectal Society and was its executive committee. Dr Ong is also a clinical lecturer at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.
He is a recipient of several Singapore Health Quality Awards.
