Dr Tey Tze Tong is a gastroenterologist at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore.
He is experienced in managing a wide range of digestive and liver conditions. His specialty interests are in abdominal pain, general gastroenterology, stomach and colon cancer screening, liver diseases and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). He routinely performs the following endoscopy procedures – gastroscopy, colonoscopy, capsule endoscopy and small bowel enteroscopy (single or double balloon enteroscopy).
Prior to joining private practice, he was a consultant gastroenterologist and headed the IBD service at Sengkang General Hospital. Dr Tey continues to be a visiting consultant there.
He graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS). He attained membership of the Royal College of Physicians, UK and a master’s degree from NUS. He is a fellow of both the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, UK and the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. He holds the European specialty certificate in gastroenterology and hepatology. He completed his senior residency training under SingHealth.
He is a member of the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation (ECCO). He completed the 18th IBD advanced course by ECCO in Austria, and underwent further training at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in the UK. Dr Tey also trained in intestinal ultrasound at the Mater Hospital in Australia, and is certified to perform intestinal ultrasound.
Dr Tey has held the appointments of clinical assistant professor at Duke-NUS Medical School, clinical senior lecturer at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, and adjunct lecturer at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. Dr Tey was also a faculty member of the SingHealth PGY1 residency programme and gastroenterology senior residency programme.
He has received multiple awards, including the Service with a Heart Award and the Singapore Health Quality Service awards.
