Dr Victor Wang is an orthopaedic surgeon at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore.
He subspecialises in spine surgeries. His interests include adult spinal deformities, complex spinal deformity correction surgeries and minimally invasive spine surgeries. He also has vast experience in utilising computer navigation for major spine surgeries.
Prior to his current role, Dr Wang was a senior consultant in orthopaedic surgery at Woodlands Health. While there, he was instrumental in setting up the combined spine service and being the first programme lead for the combined spine programme. He is currently a visiting consultant there.
He graduated from the National University of Singapore. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK. Dr Wang was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan scholarship and completed a 1-year fellowship programme at Hokkaido Medical Center, National Hospital Organization in Japan where he participated in spine surgeries including complex spinal deformity correction surgeries and revision spine surgeries. He has been practising medicine for more than 20 years.
Being a strong proponent of enhanced recovery after surgery principles, he is passionate about optimising post-surgical recovery / outcomes of his patients and was part of the committee of enhanced post-operative recovery at Woodlands Health.
Dr Wang has a strong interest in clinical research and education. He has published in various international journals. Besides his clinical work, he served as a clinical assistant professor at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and was a clinical teacher at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. Apart from teaching undergraduates, he was actively involved in the nurturing and training of junior doctors / residents.
