Experience
Dr Wong Manzhi is a plastic surgeon at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore.
Her specialty is plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, while her subspecialties are vascular anomalies, reconstructive microsurgery, aesthetic and facial nerve disorders. She performs reconstructive/non-cosmetic surgery including for facial nerve disorders, breast reconstructive surgery, reconstructive surgery for the rest of the body, facial lacerations/facial fractures, burns/wounds/scars, and skin cancer removal and reconstruction. She also performs non-invasive aesthetic procedures such as botox, fillers and lasers, breast aesthetic surgery, body contouring such as liposuction, tummy tuck, mummy makeover and male breast removal, upper and lower eyelid surgery, aesthetic surgery of nose, ears and chin, cheeklift/facelift/neck lift, and fat grafting.
She is currently a visiting consultant at Singapore General Hospital (SGH), Tan Tock Seng Hospital, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital and the National University Hospital.
Dr Wong graduated from the National University of Singapore. As a basic surgical trainee, she was awarded the Talent Development Fund award to pursue research overseas for a year. As a post-doctoral scholar at Stanford University, Institute for Stem Cell Biology & Regenerative Medicine, USA, she worked on cancer stem cell research.
She then returned to Singapore to undergo plastic surgery specialist training at SGH. She was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan award to do her fellowship at Kyorin University Hospital, Japan. While there, she honed her skills on eyelid surgery, breast reconstruction, facial fractures, blood vessel tumors/malformations, head and neck surgery, chronic wounds and facial plastic surgery. Also, during this time, she was a visiting surgeon with several cosmetic and reconstructive surgeons in Japan and South Korea.
Upon her return to Singapore, she has started a multi-disciplinary facial nerve clinic in Singapore to provide care for both subsidised and private patients who have facial nerve disorders.
Dr Wong has published and presented various research papers on plastic surgery in scientific journals and conferences, and has been an invited speaker for medical and patient education. Besides regular teaching commitments, she has organised courses on facial nerve and reconstructive surgery. Dr Wong has an interest in volunteer mission work and has participated in cleft surgery missions under SGH, Operation Smile and Smile Asia.
She is a recipient of several Singapore Health Quality Service Awards and the Service with a Heart Award.
