With bladeless femtosecond laser cataract surgery, the entire laser process is done under computer-guided imaging. This means there is improved control and reliability of the cut, which allows a finer shaped, finer sized and more centered capsule opening to be made into the cataract lens. This allows for better positioning and insertion of the artificial lens implant, which improves the visual outcome.
The femtosecond laser is also used to cut the cataract into 4 – 6 pieces, reducing the amount of ultrasound energy needed to remove the cataract.
